Strategy Reports 250 BTC Purchase, Reaching 848,250 BTC as Saylor Hints at More

Strategy disclosed that it bought 250 BTC for about $21.5 million during the week ending October 11, 2025, bringing its holdings to 848, 250 BTC. A week later, Michael Saylor hinted at more buying, but his post did not confirm a new purchase.

  • Holdings reached 848, 250 BTC as of October 11.
  • The latest disclosed purchase cost about $21.5 million.
  • Saylor’s October 18 post suggested further accumulation, not a completed purchase.
  • Strategy also spent about $192 million repurchasing STRC preferred shares during the same period.

What Strategy disclosed and what Saylor hinted

In its October 12 SEC disclosure, covering activity through October 11, Strategy reported buying 250 BTC for approximately $21.5 million. The purchase brought its total Bitcoin holdings to 848, 250 BTC.

On October 18, Strategy co-founder Michael Saylor posted an accumulation chart on X with the message:

“We found room for more orange.”

In the chart, “orange” refers to Strategy’s Bitcoin purchases. The message hinted at continued interest in BTC but gave no transaction date or amount. The filing covers activity only through October 11, so it cannot confirm whether Strategy bought more afterward. A later disclosure would be needed to confirm that.

A larger STRC repurchase

Strategy also reported spending about $192 million to repurchase its STRC preferred shares during the week ending October 11, roughly nine times its Bitcoin spending during that period.

STRC is preferred equity, not a loan. Unlike common stock, preferred shares generally have a higher claim on distributions and certain assets, subject to their terms. Their dividends are separate from interest payments on debt. The reported figures do not establish why Strategy made this particular repurchase or whether a specific dividend rate influenced the decision.

The buyback and Bitcoin purchase were separate capital-allocation decisions. The contrast shows that Strategy manages its securities as well as adding to its BTC holdings.

Holdings, supply and cash are different measures

Strategy’s 848, 250 BTC equal about 4.04% of Bitcoin’s maximum supply of 21 million. That compares its holdings with the protocol’s supply cap, not with the number of coins already mined, currently circulating or available to trade.

Strategy also reported about $5.5 billion in USD assets. That figure does not mean the company plans to spend the entire balance on Bitcoin. The total alone does not show how much is available for purchases or how management intends to use it.

Key questions about Strategy’s Bitcoin position

  • How much Bitcoin did Strategy report holding?

It reported 848, 250 BTC as of October 11, 2025.

  • Did Saylor confirm another Bitcoin purchase?

No. His October 18 post hinted at further accumulation but did not provide details or confirm a transaction.

  • How much did Strategy spend on its latest disclosed Bitcoin purchase?

About $21.5 million for 250 BTC during the week ending October 11.

  • What was the STRC repurchase?

Strategy spent about $192 million buying back preferred shares. The repurchase was separate from the Bitcoin purchase, and the reported figures do not establish management’s reason for it.

  • Does the $5.5 billion USD-assets figure mean Strategy will buy more Bitcoin?

No. The reported balance does not show how much is available for Bitcoin purchases or commit the company to using it that way.

Strategy confirmed buying 250 BTC through October 11. Saylor’s later post may point to further accumulation, but until the company discloses another transaction, that remains unconfirmed.
