Aptos (APT) fell below $0.80 after rebounding in September, while reported chart indicators pointed to weakening momentum. A separate supply change offers a longer-term counterpoint: scheduled monthly releases dropped by about 60% after vesting for investors and core contributors ended. Other sources of APT supply remain.
- Reported price: $0.7951 in an Oct. 14 Binance APT/USDT pair snapshot. The year and whether the figure was a closing or intraday price are unspecified.
- Chart levels: The cited analysis puts nearby support at $0.76-$0.78 and resistance at $0.84-$0.85.
- Supply: Scheduled monthly releases reportedly fell from 11.31 million APT to 4.54 million APT.
- Important caveat: Neither the price decline nor the end of vesting shows that former recipients sold their tokens.
APT’s rebound comes under pressure
A TradingView chart for Binance’s APT/USDT pair showed a reported price of $0.7951 on Oct. 14, after opening at $0.8368. The reported high was $0.8496 and the low was $0.7867, a decline of about 5% from the opening price. The same snapshot put APT 11.77% below its weekly opening price of $0.9012. The reported weekly range was $0.7613-$0.9155.
The snapshot does not give the year or say whether $0.7951 was the candle’s closing price or an intraday reading. Treat these figures as a dated market reference, not a live quote. Chart intervals and indicator settings also affect how technical readings compare.
The pullback followed a September recovery from roughly $0.50-$0.60. APT moved above $0.80 and reached the $0.90-$0.92 area before retreating. The rally is still partly intact, but the move below $0.80 raises questions about how long it can hold.
Momentum indicators weaken, but do not settle the outlook
On the reported daily chart, the MACD line stood at 0.0303, below its signal line at 0.0369. The histogram was negative at −0.0066, with recent bars turning red. Traders often read a MACD line crossing below the signal line as a sign of weakening momentum. Both lines were still above zero, though, so the crossover alone does not establish a sustained downtrend.
Daily Chaikin Money Flow (CMF) was reported at −0.03. CMF uses price and volume to estimate buying and selling pressure over a chosen period. A negative reading can point to selling pressure, but it cannot identify the sellers or prove that large holders are distributing APT.
On the weekly chart, the Supertrend was red at $0.9652, above the reported price. The weekly average directional index (ADX) was 26.10, down from earlier readings above 40. ADX measures trend strength, not direction. A falling reading suggests the trend is weakening, but does not by itself signal a bullish reversal.
These signals depend on the chart and are not forecasts. Their values can vary by exchange, timeframe, indicator settings, and observation time.
Support and resistance are chart references
The cited analysis puts nearby support at $0.76-$0.78, close to the reported weekly low of $0.7613. If APT rebounds, the next stated resistance is $0.84-$0.85, followed by the recent highs around $0.90-$0.92. These levels point to areas where buying or selling may emerge. They do not dictate where the price will turn.
If that support area fails, historical activity around $0.70 and $0.60 may draw attention. These are lower chart references, not guaranteed stopping points. Markets do not owe anyone a tidy bounce just because a line has been drawn beneath the price.
CoinGlass’s reported three-day liquidation heatmap, covering late Oct. 11 through Oct. 14, showed estimated bands around $0.80-$0.81, $0.86-$0.89, $0.91-$0.94, $0.785, and $0.77-$0.78. A liquidation heatmap estimates where leveraged positions may face forced closure. Its bands are not confirmed liquidation orders, reliable price targets, or proof that the market will move toward them.
Fewer scheduled unlocks, but not zero supply
Aptos Foundation’s February tokenomics update said the four-year vesting cycle for initial investors and core contributors would conclude in October 2026. Everstake’s schedule review listed a final release for those groups on Sept. 12 and the formal end of their vesting period on Oct. 12. The schedule gives two distinct dates, and the available information does not explain the gap between them.
Reported figures show total scheduled monthly releases falling from approximately 11.31 million APT to 4.54 million APT after those allocations ended, a reduction of about 60%. Community and Foundation pools account for the remaining scheduled releases.
That is a meaningful reduction in one source of scheduled token availability, but it does not end all new supply. Staking rewards are separate from vesting releases, and tokens that have already unlocked remain under their holders’ control.
The end of vesting also does not show what recipients did with their tokens. They could sell, hold, stake, or transfer them. A price decline around a vesting milestone is not evidence that anyone sold.
Analyst optimism and a separate network update
In an Oct. 14 post, an analyst using the name Phoenix described an upward structure from August lows, expected consolidation above the 200-period moving average, and set $1 as an upside objective. Phoenix also claimed that large holders were accumulating APT. The cited chart readings do not support that claim, and no holder-flow evidence is provided here. The $1 level is an analyst’s opinion, not a dependable forecast.
Separately, Aptos announced an optional transaction-encryption feature on mainnet on Oct. 12. The Aptos Foundation said Petra supports the feature and Decibel plans to use it to protect pending orders. The feature is designed to protect pending transactions or orders. It is a network development, not evidence of a change in APT’s price outlook. Aptos-based DeFi is also developing, including Amnis Finance governance.
Key questions about APT
-
Can APT hold the $0.76-$0.78 support area?
The reported chart levels cannot answer that in advance. The area is near the cited weekly low, but it is a potential support zone, not a guaranteed floor.
-
Have APT’s scheduled releases stopped?
No. Reported monthly releases fell to about 4.54 million APT, with releases from community and Foundation pools continuing. Staking rewards are a separate source of new APT.
-
Does the end of vesting prove recipients sold?
No. The vesting schedule and price chart do not establish what recipients did with their tokens.
-
What is the next resistance if APT rebounds?
The cited levels are $0.84-$0.85, followed by $0.90-$0.92. A move through either area is not assured.
The drop in scheduled releases is a constructive supply change, but it does not erase the reported near-term weakness. The next clear chart test is whether APT can hold the $0.76-$0.78 area.
